The Arab Association for Human Rights - HRA has produced a new report: "PUSHED OUT OF THE MARGINS: A Report on the 2015 Election Campaign and its Impact on the Palestinian Minority in Israel, providing a detailed analysis of the current election campaign. The report focuses on two aspects of the election so far:
a) The formation of a Joint Arab List to address new legislation that was in part intended to make it difficult for the Arab parties to enter the Knesset.
b) Trends that are already discernible in the major Israeli parties’ campaigns towards the Palestinian Arab minority in Israel.
Already we have seen efforts by the main parties towards making mainstream hate speech, incitement and restrictions on the rights of the Palestinian minority.
The HRA hopes that, by documenting these extremely negative developments and trends, the international community will be encouraged to closely monitor the election campaign, and assist the Palestinian Arab minority in highlighting the need for Israel to observe international standards and safeguards on human rights, political rights and the protection of minority rights.
The HRA will also be publishing an update next month summarizing the developments between this report’s publication and the end of the elections.
